Land history: the same ground, 2014 to today

Land history is a layer on the map that shows the same ground photographed from the air once a year, from 2014 to today. The plot outlines stay exactly as they are now; only the photograph underneath changes.

Where it comes from

The photographs are dated releases of the same aerial imagery the map already uses as its base. We keep one release per year — the last of each year, from 30 December 2014 to 5 August 2026 — and each one has been checked to return real tiles over Gulberg Greens. The earlier years are held at a coarser zoom than the recent ones, so at plot scale a 2015 photograph is softer than a 2024 one. That is the archive, not a fault.

How to use it

Open any plot from the map. Its panel has a button, "See this plot in 2015 → today". Tap it and the year slider appears along the bottom of the map. Drag it, or tap a year, and the ground under the outline changes while the outline stays put.

You can also open the map straight onto a year: /?history=2015 opens it on that year's photograph, and the cards under the map do the same with one tap. The layer works for every parcel, listed or not.

Why a buyer wants it

A plot is sold on paper, and paper does not show whether the road was cut, whether the neighbours built, or whether the block was still fields three years ago. Twelve years of photographs answer that in a minute. It is also a check on what you are told: a "developed block" that was bare ground last December is something you can see rather than something you have to take on trust.

Nothing in the layer is edited or interpreted. It is the photograph, on the date given.
